Too Much Information is a "Distraction"
May 13, 2010
Rep. Suzzane Kosmas, Sen. Bill Nelson, Sen. George LeMieux
You need to act to save the country. This is not hyperbole.
The President has stated publicly that he thinks too much information is a “distraction.” He has, within the Whitehouse administration, formed an unprecedented in-house media outlet that shapes information to look as if it is the result of genuine reporting when it is, in fact, merely presenting the administration’s side. Most recently, even some “in-crowd” DC reporters have expressed concern about this because it is being used to shield the current Supreme Court justice nominee from interviews with the ostensibly free press. The FCC, I think, is making noises about regulating the internet as a utility. Such regulation could be used to censure, or at least stifle, content. Nancy Pelosi has been recorded directing that church leaders are to preach to their congregations the government’s view of why comprehensive immigration reform is the pious way.
Joseph Goebbels would be envious of these circumstances.
At one point in his World War II military service my father was Army Air Corps liaison for General George S. Patton’s Army. The “S” in Patton was for “Smith”. My mother’s maiden name was Smith (no relation). She was a firewall plumber on Boeing bomber aircraft during the war. To use a Patton/Smith colloquialism… the above actions, viewpoints, and directions are BULL SHIT and they are anti-American.
If you and your colleagues stand by and do not put a stop to the directions being taken by the administration and other Democratic leadership toward the instrumentalities of totalitarian governance then you, me, and our progeny are doomed to slavery of one form or another.
Have a nice day.
